Multi-Object Imports

Enable bulk imports across multiple objects and save time by creating and associating records together in a single import.

📑Learn To:

💡Things to Consider:

Establish relationships between object records on an import template by determining a record identifier that associates the records on the import file.

This could be an external id #, a unique record name, or any other unique record identifier.

Only one file can be uploaded at a time. Create a new import for additional files.

Supported File Types are .xlsx and .csv

Multi-Object Imports must be enabled in a workspace. Reach out to your client success manager or support@termsheet.com to get this enabled in your workspace.

⚙️Steps

Initiate an import and map sheets from the import file to objects in the workspace

  1. Navigate to Settings > Imports / Exports > Imports
  2. Select Create New Importgroup import_create new
  3. Select an Import File using your file browser, then select Next.group import_select file
  4. In the first step of the import wizard, select the destination object that each sheet on the excel workbook should import into using the dropdown. group import_select object per sheet
  5. Select the Import Mode. Note that to update existing records, the record ID field is required to be included on the import. To create new records, no ID field is required. A record ID will be assigned when the record is created via import.
  6. Select where the import data begins by identifying the header row.
  7. If the workbook contains sheets that are not intended to be uploaded, use the “Ignore Sheet” toggle to skip the configuration and processing of that sheet.  group import_optional ignore sheet
  8. Select Next

Create relationships between the data (if applicable). In this example, we are creating Properties that are linked to Deals and Action Plans that are linked to Companies.

  1. Select the objects in the “From Tab” and “To Tab” dropdowns.  group imports_establish relationships

  2. In the Column dropdown, select the unique identifier that maps one object to another. In this example, the Property Address is the unique identifier that maps from the Property to the Deal. The Company Name is the unique identifier that maps the Company to the Action Plan.  group imports_example files_bothgroup import_example relationship
  3. Select a Relationship field from the dropdown. This is the TermSheet field that associates the objects together.
  4. Add any additional relationships from the workbook as needed by selecting the “Add Relationship Manually” button.  group import _ select step 2
  5.  Select Next

Map the column headers from the import file to actual fields from the workspace.

  1. Use the dropdown and search to select object specific fields that exist in the workspace. If the field does not already exist, use the + icon next to the dropdown to create it on the fly.  group imports_map fields
  2. Repeat for all sheets included within the import workbook.
  3. Select Review Import
  4. The import wizard will detect if sheets are unmapped to an object or a field and display an error. Use the back button to resolve errors before proceeding. group import_address errors
  5. Select Start Import group imports_ start import
  6. The import will start immediately. If any records fail to import, a csv file will be available for download with error messages on how to resolve.  group import_import auto-runsgroup import_save failed file

Validate that the records are imported successfully by navigating to the objects. Filter by “Created Date” to see records that were created today. In Deals, records will be found in the “Imports” Saved View Group in a static view with the import sheet name.
