TermSheet tracks user activity which menas teams can easily display the creator of any record to track that record's origin.
To track who created a record, teams can enable system fields in panels on Layouts, as columns on Saved Views, or as fields in Reports.
The system fields that display the user that created the record may be different from object to object. Below is a list of objects/modules and the system field or alternative method for viewing the created by user.
Deals
System field "Created By User" can be enabled in any layout, view, or report.
CRM - Company
System field "Created By User" can be enabled in any layout, view, or report.
CRM - Contacts
System Field "Contact Holder" displays the user who created the contact record by default in the left-hand contact sidebar.
Contact Holder can also be added to the Contact Layout if desired, but cannot be removed from the contact sidebar 
Tasks
System Field "Creator" can be added to the Task List Table as a column but cannot be enabled on the Task Details. 
Properties
System field "Created By User" can be enabled in any layout, view, or report.
Report Builder
Created By is a pre-populated column on Report Builder view.
